Male Plastic Surgery

I'm not a cosmetic or plastic surgeon, a dermatologist or a doctor of any kind. So, if you're one of the many men considering male plastic surgery (according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS, 1,116,591 procedures were performed on men in 2007), why should you care about what I have to say about plastic surgery for men?

  • In 2006 & 2007, I earned a living researching and writing over 500 Web site pages for plastic surgeons and dermatologists in 16 states
  • Men like you look to The Guy's Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men every month for the facts about plastic surgery
  • I'm not trying to get your business, so this site serves as an impartial source of information about male plastic surgery

Let's face it, unlike most women, we men don't consistently--or for that matter, ever probably--read the sorts of magazines that regularly discuss plastic surgery: Elle, Allure, Glamour, etc. Still, more and more of us are realizing that, yeah, we would like to look our best and that plastic surgery might just be the answer. We're not alone. The ASPS reports that male plastic surgery accounted for 13% of the Cosmetic Surgical Procedures performed in 2007 and 9% of the cosmetic Minimally Invasive Procedures. And although I didn't personally contribute to 2006's numbers, I did see a board certified dermatologist both in 2005 and then again in 2007 for a laser treatment to minimize the appearance of broken blood vessels on my face, as well as for rosacea. And should either return, I'll do so again.

Unfortunately, some men either don't know their options or are afraid to ask for help. It's my hope that this site will provide an anonymous setting in which men can learn more about their options. Eventually, should you decide as I did that plastic surgery or a visit with a dermatologist might help, you can Find a Plastic Surgeon or dermatologist in your area. If you’re a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon, contact The Guy’s Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men now about a FREE directory profile.

The honest truth is I really don't care whether or not you elect either a plastic surgical procedure or a cosmetic minimally invasive treatment. It's just my hope that if you do come to the conclusion that a plastic surgeon or dermatologist might be of assistance in helping you to look your best and maybe even live better, that you make an informed decision based upon the facts about plastic surgery for men. Hopefully I've done that here-taken the facts about what I've learned in researching and writing about plastic surgery for all of those plastic surgeons and dermatologists across the country, and provided some man somewhere with the basics so that he can get the information he's looking for fast.

Good luck,

Mike

P.S. Hopefully, this site pretty much says it all. And, definitely, that will be the last time you'll see the word "pretty" used on this site. Again, I want to stress that although I've written for tens of doctors all over America, I'm not a doctor myself, so before having any medical procedure, please be sure to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Find a Plastic Surgeon in your area now.
