Find a Plastic Surgeon

Now that you know a little bit about male plastic surgery, maybe you're ready to take the next step and learn a whole lot more by scheduling a consultation with a doctor. First, you'll have to find a plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your area. You've come to the right place.

While the following list is by no means a comprehensive plastic surgeon directory (there are approximately 6,000 members in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons alone), hopefully it will at the very least help you in your plastic surgeon search to find a doctor that's both qualified and close to home. Note: a doctor's inclusion here does not imply endorsement of the Guy's Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men, but rather is simply provided as a service to visitors of this site.

Selecting a Good Plastic Surgeon

I'm just a plastic surgery copywriter, but it's my opinion that selecting a good plastic surgeon begins and ends with board certification. That's why I've done my best here to include only board certified plastic surgeons and dermatologists. Why is board certification important? Because if you're a man considering male plastic surgery, you should know that it's legal for a medical doctor, regardless of specialty, to market his or herself as a "cosmetic surgeon," and perform cosmetic surgery. This, although they may have no specific training in a given procedure or treatment. So, please keep that in mind--MD's can market themselves as a "cosmetic surgeon," but not as a "plastic surgeon."

If you find a plastic surgeon in your area, ask them if they're board certified (and then confirm it). In most instances, they will either be board certified by or a member of at least one of the following:

  • American Board of Plastic Surgery
  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons
  • American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
  • American Board of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery
  • American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Now, to keep the following plastic surgeon directory somewhat manageable, I've included just one plastic surgeon from each state's capital, and then one from each major city within the state ("major" here being a city with a population of around 100,000 people). With that said, if there's a doctor you're considering consulting with in your state that's not on this list, just visit the Resources page where you will find links to various associations, such as The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Each allows you to verify whether or not the plastic surgeon you're considering is indeed board certified.

And as I said, I'm not a doctor and this isn't my day job. So, it may take just a bit of time to compile contact information. Be sure to check back often, or simply contact me and I'll send you an email when I add a doctor to your city.
