Why Do People Get Plastic Surgery?
Why do people get plastic surgery, specifically men? Obviously, there are many reasons:
- In a competitive workplace, men want to present a healthy and vibrant appearance
- In an increasingly youth-oriented culture, men want to appear... well, more youthful
- Due to divorce, men have found themselves dating again and want to look their best
- Everyone's doing it
Okay, so NOT every man is having plastic surgery, but according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), men accounted for 13% or 232,619 of the cosmetic surgical procedures performed in the United States in 2007, and 9% or 883,972 of the cosmetic Minimally Invasive Procedures.
Honestly, a man probably considers one of the many different types of plastic surgery for men for the simple reason that he's concerned with some aspect of his appearance and genuinely feels that plastic surgery might help him to improve how he looks, which in turn might enhance how he lives. He might also believe that in taking control of something he perceives as a negative in his life, he might enjoy being able to concentrate on other, more positive things. What's important to remember, though, is that when it comes to why people have plastic surgery (and, hopefully, this goes without saying), the only reason that really matters is yours.
